Howard Stableford (born 12 April 1959) is a television and radio presenter. Stableford grew up in Preston, Lancashire, the son of a business skills lecturer and a shipping agent. He attended Hutton Grammar School. He read for a Geography degree at Durham University where he also played rugby and acted in student theatre. BBC Radio Lancashire gave Howard his first break into broadcasting, followed by BBC Radio Northampton and BBC Children's TV. There, he hosted ''Beat the Teacher'' and presented ''Newsround'' amongst many other programmes before joining the BBC's flagship science and technology programme ''Tomorrow's World'' in 1985.〔http://www.metro.co.uk/showbiz/interviews/38-howard-stableford Retrieved 20 December 2010.〕 More recently Stableford has worked for BBC Radio 4, the Open University, Granada Television and NBC.
